Hawaii-Based Marine Killed In Iraq
HONOLULU — A Marine from Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe was killed in combat this week in Iraq.
Lance Cpl. Joshua C. Alonzo, 21, of Moore, Texas, was killed on Nov. 22. He was involved in fighting in Anbar Province.
Alonzo was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
Alonzo joined the Marine Corps June 2004. He deployed with the units that left for Iraq in September.
He has been awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
