Grand Prairie-based Marine killed
08:38 PM CST on Friday, November 19, 2004
A Marine based in Grand Prairie has been killed in Iraq, the Defense Department said.
Lance Cpl. Louis W. Qualls, 20, of Temple died Tuesday as result of enemy action in Anbar province. He was at least the 110th Texan service member to die since the war in Iraq began.
Lance Cpl. Qualls was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserves 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, based in Grand Prairie.
Several Texas service members have been killed in that province, which includes the insurgent strongholds of Fallujah and Ramadi, since U.S. soldiers and Marines began an offensive this month to take control of those cities.
