Funeral services for Lance Cpl. Michael Probst of Irvine are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Red Hill Lutheran Church, 13200 Red Hill Ave. in Tustin.

Probst was killed Feb. 14 while on patrol in Iraq. The casket bearing his body arrived Tuesday night at John Wayne Airport, accompanied by a Marine honor guard.

Flags at the state capitol were flown at half-staff Wednesday in Probst's honor, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Probst "exemplified the unwavering commitment to liberty on which our nation was founded."

Probst is survived by his parents, Roger and Judy Probst of Irvine, his brother Matthew of San Diego, his grandmothers, several aunts and uncles and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92057

"Semper fi" is short for "semper fidelis," Latin for "always faithful," the Marines' motto.
