Funeral services Saturday for Radcliff Marine, 24

A 24-year-old Marine from Kentucky who was killed in hostile fire in Iraq will be buried Saturday.

Funeral services for Lance Cpl. DeShon E. Otey of Radcliff are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. He will be buried with full military honors in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Percell and Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Otey was a rifleman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, which is based at Camp Pendleton in California.

He died a week ago in the Al-Anbar province, officials said.

Otey's family moved to Radcliff in Hardin County from Louisville in 1980. A former student at North Hardin High School, he joined the Marines in June 2001.

He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, according to the Marines.
