Two Houston Marines from deadly chopper crash remembered
04:49 PM CST on Thursday, February 3, 2005
Two area Marines who died last week in a helicopter crash in Iraq were remembered in different ways Thursday.
Smiley High School held a memorial for 30-year-old Staff Sergeant Dexter Kimble who was a 1992 graduate. His wife and mother attended the ceremony, as did one of his four children.
Dawanna Kimble says her husband was a proud Marine and she was a proud Marine wife.
"He was the most giving person that I knew," said Dawanna. "I was his princess. Anything you wanted him to do, he'd say 'I'll do it, no problem.' 'I'm good to go' was his favorite words, good to go, let's go."
Sgt. Kimble was on his third tour of duty in Iraq.
His wife says the one thing she'd want people to know is that he gave his life and was proud to do it.
