Laramie family is struggling with the news that a loved one was
killed in Iraq.
Marine Lance Corporal Kyle Burns was killed on Veterans Day in the province that includes
Fallujah.
Robert Burns says the knock came on the door at one o'clock Friday morning.
He says seeing the two Marines on his porch step was the most terrifying experience in his
life. And he says he knew exactly what they were going to say.
Few details have been made available to the Burns family or the media regarding Kyle's
death.
He was assigned to a battalion that was based in Camp Pendleton, California.
The family has announced that a celebration of Kyle's life will be held Thursday at 3
o'clock at the University of Wyoming Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Laramie.
Burial will take place Friday morning (at 11:00) at Fort Logan National Cemetery in
Denver.
Kyle Burns graduated from Laramie High School in 2002 and promptly joined the Marines over
his mother's protests.
His father says he loved to hunt and fish, and play hockey.
Kyle cheered for the Wyoming Cowboys, Denver Broncos and New York Rangers. He also had
played soccer and baseball and was a big supporter of the Laramie High football team.
Kyle Burns was 20 years old. Besides his parents, Robert and Jocelyn Burns, he leaves
behind a brother, Kristopher, who is 24 and lives in Laramie.
